Corps seeks public comments on draft feasibility report and environmental assessment for Willamette Basin Review feasibility study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District and the Oregon Water Resources Department, seeks comment on its draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) and draft Finding of No Significant Impacts for the Willamette Basin Review feasibility study. This study will be used to formulate a recommendation to the Chief of Engineers on the potential allocation of storage in the Corps’ Willamette Valley reservoirs, referred to collectively as the Willamette Valley Project.

Corps seeks public comments on draft environmental assessment for expansion of Port Orford nearshore dredge placement site

The Corps is seeking public comments on the draft environmental assessment for the Port Orford operations and maintenance dredging and dredge material placement concerning the expansion of the nearshore dredge placement site. The nearshore placement site is currently an 800 by 800 feet dredge placement area south of the Port Orford breakwater. The site will double in size by extending the southern boundary by approximately 800 feet further south.

The Corps begins its winter recreational vessel lock schedule Sept. 16. Recreational boaters may lock past dams on the lower Snake and Columbia rivers almost any time during daylight hours.

The Corps and Columbia River Ports jointly preparing an environmental impact statement (EIS) for The Lower Columbia River Federal Navigation Channel Maintenance Plan

Interested parties and tribes are hereby notified that the Portland District of the Corps and the Sponsor Ports are preparing a joint Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for The Lower Columbia River Federal Navigation Channel Maintenance Plan (Plan) and are seeking public input during an extended scoping period, from September 8 through November 16, 2017.

Corps seeks comment on Port of Coos Bay's proposed channel modification project

The Corps intends to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to analyze the potential environmental effects of approving the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay’s proposed Coos Bay Channel Modification Project. The Port proposes to widen and deepen the Coos Bay Federal Navigation Project from the ocean to river mile 8.2 to improve navigation efficiency, reduce shipping transportation costs and facilitate the shipping industry’s transition to larger, more efficient vessels.

Corps issues Regional General Permit 9 for maintenance activities along South Coast of Oregon

The Corps has issued a regional general permit authorizing certain maintenance activities in the waters of the United States within Douglas, Coos, Curry and Lane Counties for the discharge of dredged or fill material into such waters.

Corps seeks public comment on Caspian Tern Nesting Island Construction draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment

The Corps is seeking public comment on its draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment evaluating the environmental effects of demolishing a floating island within the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and constructing a permanent island made of rock in its place. Comments are open through July 27.

Draft Willamette Falls Locks Integrated Disposition Study & Environmental Assessment

The Corps is seeking public comment on its proposal to recommend Congressional de-authorization and disposal of the Willamette Falls Locks after performing minor modification for seismic retrofits and to install perimeter fencing and debris and boat barriers. Comments are open through July 12.
