Expiration Date: September 09, 2020

Interested parties are hereby notified that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District (Corps) plans to repair parts of the Pendleton 1b Levee, near downtown Pendleton, Oregon. The project is needed to restore the levee to pre-2020 flood protection levels. The project components are specified under the descriptions of alternatives in the EA.

The primary aim of this project is to repair four damaged locations along the levee. Three locations are areas of scour or erosion and will be refilled, regraded, and armored with riprap as needed, and the fourth location will be repaired by sealing a non-functional floodgate. Construction is scheduled to take place November 16th-27th, 2020.

A draft EA has been prepared for the proposed Federal action in accord with the Council on Environmental Quality’s National Environmental Policy Act regulations [Federal Register 40 CFR 1508.9(a)]. This project was initiated by the City of Pendleton under Public Law 84-99. The Corps will consider all comments received or post marked by the 9th of September 2020, and make a determination of significance of impacts resulting from the proposed action.
