Interested parties are hereby notified of of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District (Corps) The Dalles Lock and Dam Emergency Crane Replacement Project on the Columbia River in Klickitat County, Washington. The Corps plans to fund the Project pursuant to a Department of the Army authorization, thereby making the Project an undertaking subject to review under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), 54 U.S.C. § 300101 et seq., and its implementing regulations, 36 C.F.R. Part 800.
The Corps plans to replace the Emergency Gantry Crane (E-Crane) on the Powerhouse and replace the existing three-wire overhead conductor system with a new four-wire overhead conductor system at The Dalles Dam (Project). The Corps has determined that the undertaking may have an adverse effect on The Dalles Dam, which is eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic places, and has consulted with the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) pursuant to 36 C.F.R. Part 800.
The Corps, pursuant to 36 C.F.R. § 800.2(d)(2), is providing the public about the undertaking and its effects on the historic property and is seeking public comment and input.
