  • The Dalles Dam tours postponed during construction; Visitor center remains open

    Public tours at The Dalles Lock and Dam are postponed until further notice due to construction activities at the dam. The Dalles Dam Visitor Center is not impacted by the construction and remains open under normal operating hours.
  • Potential oil spill initiates spill prevention protocol

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has initiated spill prevention protocols today due to the loss of approximately 470 gallons of oil from one of the generating units at The Dalles Dam. The Corps is in the process of determining what happened to the oil. Although there is no evidence the oil went into the Columbia River, the Corps will continue to monitor the waters downstream of the dam.

    PORTLAND, Ore. – Officials from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District re-opened the navigation locks at John Day Lock & Dam and The Dalles Lock & Dam today, three days ahead of schedule.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites the public to a family fishing event at Spearfish Park, near Dallesport, Washington, on June 6 from 9 a.m. to noon. The event coincides with the state of Washington’s free fishing weekend and national Get Outdoors Day.
