Corps offers tours of The Dalles Dam May 25 and 26

PORTLAND, ORE. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites visitors to join a park ranger for a guided tour of The Dalles Dam during Memorial Day weekend.

 

Visitors taking a guided tour of The Dalles Lock and Dam will learn about the dam’s history, operations, power generation and fish passage facilities.  Tours will be offered May 25 and 26 at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Visitors must register in advance for these tours; to register, please call the Visitor Center at 541-296-9778 or The Dalles Dam ranger staff at 541-506-7857. 

 

While here, guests can stop by the visitor center and Seufert Park.  Seufert Park offers a perfect location to picnic and enjoy the scenic views of Mt. Hood, access the eastern end of The Dalles Riverfront trail, or wander through the Historic Seufert Rose Garden.

 

Visitors can explore a variety of interactive displays, watch a short film on the benefits and impacts of the dam, get a sneak peak of fish migrating up the fish ladder, or browse the bookstore at The Dalles Dam Visitor Center.

 

The visitor center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday.

 Button image Right-click that icon, and then copy the shortcut to the Clipboard.
Press Ctrl+V to paste the information from the Clipboard into the RSS Feed location box.
