Drought conditions combined with a court-ordered "deep drawdown" has reduced the reservoir level at Lookout Point below the Meridian Park boat ramp.

PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District advises boaters to check availability of boat ramps in the Willamette Valley ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

A combination of drought conditions and court-ordered actions have affected, and in some cases eliminated, access to boat ramps.

Corps water managers projected reservoir levels through September to forecast boat ramp availability and created a list for boaters to plan their holiday weekend activities. While the list below is the most accurate forecast at time of publication, recreation users should visit the Corps Willamette Valley reservoir levels web page for the most up-to-date information.

Boat ramp availability forecast
OPEN - boat ramp forecasted to remain open through Labor Day weekend.
POSSIBLY OPEN - boat ramp that may be open ahead of the Labor Day weekend.
LIKELY CLOSED - boat ramp that will likely close ahead of the Labor Day weekend.
CLOSED - boat ramp that will be closed for the Labor Day weekend.

Blue River reservoir
• Lookout Boat Ramp (1330’ elevation) - LIKELY CLOSED (by August 10)
• Saddle Dam Boat Ramp (1295’ elevation) – OPEN

Cottage Grove reservoir
• Lakeside Boat Ramp (749’ elevation) - OPEN
• Wilson Creek Boat Ramp (779’ elevation) - CLOSED

Cougar reservoir
This location is operating in compliance with a 2021 court injunction, which ordered the Corps to delay refill in the spring and, later, reduce reservoir levels.
• Echo Park Boat Ramp (1635’ elevation) - CLOSED
• Slide Creek Boat Ramp (1635’ elevation) - CLOSED

Detroit reservoir
This location is operating in compliance with a 2021 court injunction and measures to reduce risks posed by earthquakes.
