Craig Johnson has over 20 years of federal service. He joined the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Portland District in 2018. Johnson was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland and served briefly in the U.S. Navy. He holds a master's degree in Applied Archaeology from Northern Arizona University. His federal career began with the National Park Service, then served as an archaeologist/project manager at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Johnson went on to serve as a Lead Archaeologist for the Bureau of Land Management. He spent eight years at the U.S Forest Service where he managed the field work for repatriation and reburial of nearly 3000 individual Native American ancestors and 400,000 associated artifacts in compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). Today, Johnson joined the Portland District as the Tribal Liaison, serving tribal communities in the area.
