  • Corps to provide update on drastically improved water year for Rogue Basin

    Army water managers for the Rogue River Basin will hold a public virtual information session June 8, 2-2:30 p.m., to share the improved summer conservation season outlook for the basin.
  • The Dalles Dam Visitor Center reopens for summer season

    The Dalles Dam Visitor Center reopened to the public May 27. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday through Sunday, through the end of August.
  • Corps updates Safe Lockage Policy for recreational vessels on Columbia, Snake rivers

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has put the following guidelines in place for the continued safe passage of recreational craft through the navigation locks at McNary, John Day, The Dalles, and Bonneville dams on the Columbia River, and Ice Harbor, Lower Monumental, Little Goose and Lower Granite dams on the Snake River:
  • Corps’ summer recreational lock schedule to take effect May 15

    Motorized recreational boaters who need to pass through the three lower Columbia River dams must follow a lock schedule taking effect May 15.
  • Corps to Host Public Meeting on Bradford Island Cleanup

    Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) will host a virtual public meeting May 12, 5:30-7 p.m., to discuss the ongoing cleanup of contaminants found at Bradford Island from historical waste operations and disposal at the site. 
  • Corps facing historically dry year in Rogue River Basin

    Army water managers for the Rogue River Basin will hold a virtual information session May 3, 3-4 p.m., to discuss challenges that are hampering efforts to refill the basin’s two reservoirs ahead of the summer conservation season.
  • Corps, sponsor ports host open houses on 20-year dredged material placement plan

    Army planners and Columbia River sponsor ports are hosting five virtual information sessions April 26-28 to update the public on their 20-year plan for managing dredged material from the Lower Columbia River.
  • Inspection confirms complaint of buried waste at Elk Creek Dam

    Army technicians investigation confirms the presence of buried waste after a former contractor employee’s complaint with Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (ODEQ), at Elk Creek Dam. Elk Creek Dam is 26 miles north of Medford, Ore., and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District published its site inspection report on Mar. 30, 2022. In it, the Portland District concluded it would need to investigate the site further to determine the full extent of contamination. There are potential impacts to ground and surface water in the area.
  • EPA adds Bradford Island to the Superfund list

    Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency adds a portion of Bradford Island, which lies within the Bonneville Lock & Dam complex and is operated by Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, to the National Priorities List.
  • Corps awards $5 million contract for Rogue River dredging at Gold Beach

    Army officials announce a $5.3 million contract award for dredging the Rogue River at Gold Beach, Ore. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) maintains navigation channels along the Oregon coast and dredging is an important component of keeping the Rogue River Harbor open for recreational vessels, including jet boats, fishing guides and sport fishermen.
