  • Corps seeks public input for Willamette Valley hydropower report to Congress

    The Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will gather the public’s perspective and opinions on the future of hydropower across the Corps’ Willamette Valley system of dams during three listening sessions – one in-person and two virtual.

    In two virtual public information sessions, the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will discuss the role of hydropower at their Willamette Valley dams, and how they’re answering Congress’ call to look at the future of that hydropower.
  • Corps to begin deep drawdowns at Green Peter, Lookout Point

    Beginning in June, the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin to gradually drawdown Lookout Point and Green Peter reservoirs to historically low levels. The goal of these reservoir “drawdowns,” which are part of an injunction ordered by the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, is to increase juvenile spring Chinook and steelhead survival and passage through the reservoirs and past the dams.
  • Federal agencies release final Columbia River System Operations environmental impact statement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Bonneville Power Administration today released the Columbia River System Operations Final Environmental Impact Statement. The issuance of the final EIS is a substantial step toward accomplishment of a priority item of the Presidential Memorandum on Promoting the Reliable Supply and Delivery of Water in the West issued in October 2018.

    Bonneville Lock and Dam's annual Great Electrifying Event shows how the dam keeps the Northwest powered up. Hands on activities and videos demonstrate the basics of electricity and how it's made, while powerhouse tours give an up close look at Bonneville's hydropower generators. This free event is great for kids and adults.
  • Bonneville Dam hosts Great Electrifying Event Feb. 23

    Bonneville Lock and Dam will host its annual Great Electrifying Event Feb. 18 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Washington Shore Visitor Center.

Press Ctrl+V to paste the information from the Clipboard into the RSS Feed location box.
