The Dalles Dam Visitor Center reopens to public May 6

Published May 5, 2017

PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites guests to visit The Dalles Dam Visitor Center and tour the dam this summer beginning tomorrow.

The visitor center will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from May 6 through the end of September. The visitor center will also be open every day from May 30 through Sept. 3. Hours of operation are always 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Tours of the dam will be offered at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday. Tour guests will be shuttled from the visitor’s center along the Riverfront Trail to the dam. Visitors are invited to take part in fish passage viewing and interactive displays while learning about the dam’s history and how it works to generate power for the region. Because space on the shuttle is limited, visitors are encouraged to register for tours before visiting the dam.

The Dalles Dam Visitor Center is located just north of Interstate 84 at exit 87. After exiting the highway, turn east onto Bret Clodfelter Way and follow the road to the visitor center. For more information and to register for tours, please contact The Dalles Lock and Dam Ranger Office at 541-506-7857 or 541-296-9778, or visit the dam’s website at www.nwp.usace.army.mil/locations/columbia-river/the-dalles.
