  • View bald eagles at The Dalles Dam, weekends in January

    Park rangers invite the public to The Dalles Dam visitor center to view bald eagles roosting in their natural habitat along the Columbia River. The visitor center will be open Saturdays and Sundays in January from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Corps initiates oil spill prevention protocol

    Portland, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Portland District, has initiated its oil spill prevention protocol after 192 gallons of hydraulic turbine oil discharged into the Columbia River downstream of The Dalles Lock and Dam.
  • CORPS HOLDING OPEN-HOUSE MEETINGS ON LEVEE SYSTEM FEASIBILITY STUDY

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently launched its New Start Feasibility Study of the Portland metropolitan area levee system. The three-year federal feasibility study process will lead to a recommendation to Congress for federal investment in addressing the problem areas and vulnerabilities in the area’s local levee and drainage system.
