Corps seeks comments on Fall Creek drawdown

Published Oct. 7, 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public comments on its draft environmental assessment of downstream fish enhancements for juvenile salmonids at Fall Creek Dam east of Eugene, Ore.

The Corps has for the past several years drawn down Fall Creek Reservoir below typical late fall/early winter elevations to improve fish access to the dam’s regulating outlets, which enhances downstream passage and survival of endangered juvenile Chinook salmon and steelhead. The draft EA evaluates making the drawdown a permanent annual action, typically occurring during a two week period in late November or early December.

The draft EA for the proposed activity is available for public review and comment on the Corps’ website at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Media/Announcements.aspx.

Questions or comments regarding the draft EA should be directed to Mr. Steve Helm, (503) 808-4778, Steve.R.Helm@usace.army.mil, or:

District Engineer
