Corps' Willamette Valley Project headquarters moves to downtown Eugene

Published Feb. 25, 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. – The headquarters of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Willamette Valley Project has moved from Lookout Point Dam near Lowell, Ore., to the Eugene, Ore., Federal Building at 211 E. 7th Ave.

The new headquarters location provides easier access to the project’s leaders and staff for most stakeholders.

The main phone number for the Willamette Valley Project has changed to 541-684-4300. All Corps field offices in the Willamette Valley can be reached through this number. Media and other general public inquiries can also be directed to the Portland District Public Affairs Office at 503-808-4510.

The headquarters’ move will lead to some security changes at the Corps offices below Lookout Point Dam. The gate to the office area will be closed at all times, and access to non-employees will be by appointment only. This will limit public access to the Dexter Reservoir shoreline near the office.

Information about recreational access, facilities and regulations at Dexter and Lookout Point reservoirs near Lookout Point Dam, including hunting areas, is available at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Willamette.aspx.

The Willamette Valley Project’s 13 dam and reservoir projects contributes to a water resource plan designed to provide flood damage reduction, power generation, irrigation, water quality improvement, fish and wildlife habitat, recreation and navigation on the Willamette River and many of its tributaries.  For more information, visit http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Locations/WillametteValley.aspx.
