PORTLAND, Ore. -- The land-use plan (Master Plan or MP) for Cottage Grove and Dorena lakes is out-of-date, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is in the process of updating it. Corps staff are seeking input from the public on MP development during four upcoming information sessions.
Master plans provide natural resource management planning strategies and ensure agencies follow federal regulations and national goals in a comprehensive and consolidated manner. They establish a vision for future natural resource management, support responsible stewardship and guide sustainable use of project resources for the benefit of present and future generations. The Corps also requires them for project lands.
The Corps encourages public participation throughout the development of this plan. Those interested can learn more about authorized project purposes, potential funding and resource constraints at the public meetings or online to inform your comments and input.
Members of the public can attend any of the four public meetings (one virtually) to learn or comment on the project:

Background: An updated master plan is needed for the Coast Fork of the Willamette River. This master plan will guide the management of the Corps-managed lands and waters of Cottage Grove and Dorena Lakes for the next 20 years. The current Master Plans are out of date and limit the potential for management strategies which have changed drastically since the last revision.
