Bonneville leverages star status
Ever wonder how a favorite television show is made? With film magic, actors and a lot of waiting, as folks learned at Bonneville Lock and Dam. Fans of the TV show Leverage, seen on TNT, know much of the show is filmed in the Portland area. Location scouts recently contacted the Corps, asking if they could film an episode at Bonneville. A crew of about 50 began arriving at Powerhouse Two early Aug. 14. Once everyone had arrived, the parking lot was full of trucks and trailers. “We really appreciate being able to film here at Bonneville Dam,” said Bobby Warburg, a location scout for Leverage. “This is going to be an amazing-looking episode because [Bonneville] is on such a big scale – [it is] really going to film nice.” After several hours of set up, the crew was ready for thecast. With two of the principal actors from the show and two guest stars, action was filmed again and again … and again. “I did not realize how many times a scene is filmed from different angles,” said Pat Barry, a Bonneville park ranger tasked with managing the unusual visit. “I look forward to watching this episode … to see our three minutes of fame … that took us a day to film.”
