    Corps encourages safe recreation season on Columbia and John Day rivers

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites visitors to enjoy the many recreational opportunities near the John Day-Willow Creek Project this summer while being safe in or near the water. To keep everyone safe we ask that you ‘Know Before you Go.’ There are some changes to our operation and we want guests to be aware.

    Corps seeks comments on draft Environmental Assessment for Steamboat Slough habitat restoration

    The Corps of Engineers is seeking public comment on a draft Environmental Assessment (CENWP-PM-E-13-07) for Steamboat Slough habitat restoration in the Lower Columbia River Estuary, proposing to restore tidal connection and fish access to 68 acres of historically tidal wetlands on the mainstem of the Columbia River.

    Corps decides on 'no action' for Caspian tern Environmental Assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers released a Finding of No Significant Impact for its Environmental Assessment for adaptively managing predation on Caspian terns in the Lower Columbia River Estuary. Based on the FONSI, no action will be taken to manage predation.

    The Warren H. Daugherty Aquatic Center in Cottage Grove, Ore., will host a Water Safety Play Day Saturday, May 11 from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Children and their parents can learn about swimming and boating safety through a variety of fun activities at this free event.

    Corps to hold Foster Reservoir lower this summer

    The Corps alerts boaters and other users of Foster Reservoir near Sweet Home, Ore., that the reservoir will be held about two feet lower than usual throughout the summer of 2013. The Corps anticipates very little impact to recreation users.
