Corps seeks volunteer campground hosts for Plymouth and LePage parks
We're looking for friendly, customer service-oriented volunteers at Plymouth Park in Plymouth, Wash., and LePage Park near Rufus, Ore., to assist visitors and help maintain the grounds during the 2014 recreation season.

The Dalles Dam hosts an amazing race, geocache style
Park rangers at The Dalles Lock and Dam invite the public to take part in an amazing race, geocache style, between 1 and 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at Seufert and Patterson parks. This would be a good introduction to geocaching for those unfamiliar with this GPS-centered sport.

Columbia-Snake River navigation locks close for annual maintenance in March
Eight navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers close to all river traffic at 6 a.m. Sat., March 1, 2014; scheduled re-opening is planned for March 15 for Columbia River locks and March 22 for Snake River locks.

Corps of Engineers dams capturing storm runoff, reservoirs filling
Large federal reservoirs are seeing the effects of recent back-to-back heavy rainstorms drenching the Willamette Valley, prompting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to increase water releases from most of its dams this weekend in order to preserve storage space for future storms.
