    More public recreation fatalities occur in July than any other month, and so the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers asks you to please play it safe while on, in, or near the water. Increased water safety awareness can help ensure that you and your loved ones have fun this summer and return home safely.
  • Corps seeks public comment on changes to Caspian Tern nesting proposed actions

    The Corps is seeking public comment on its draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment evaluating the environmental effects of demolishing a floating island within the Lower Klamath National Wildlife Refuge and constructing a permanent island made of rock in its place. Comments are open through July 27.
  • Corps, ODFW temporarily extend agreements for hatchery operations

    Contract negotiations for hatchery operations in Oregon are going into overtime. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will extend its cooperative agreements with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) for up to 120 days, as the agencies continue negotiating contracts for the Corps’ fish hatchery services in the Columbia, Willamette and Rogue river basins. The current agreements, entered into in 2012, expire June 30, 2017.
  • Erosion repairs to disrupt south shore fishing area below Dexter Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will begin erosion repairs below Dexter Dam, southeast of Eugene, July 10. The repairs may disrupt access to the south shore fishing area until July 20.
  • Big Cliff Reservoir levels to decrease during survey

    Water levels at Big Cliff Reservoir will be lower June 19 and 20 to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to conduct an archaeological survey. The water drawdown will begin June 16 and reach approximately 1180 feet by 8 a.m. June 19. This is about two feet lower than typical low levels at Big Cliff. Corps regulators will hold the reservoir at that level until approximately 8 p.m., June 20.
  • Dorena Reservoir water levels to increase during hydrosurvey

    PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will increase Dorena Reservoir water levels from May 31 to June 9 to conduct hydrographic surveys throughout the reservoir. The pool will be held up to one foot higher during the surveys (from 832.5 to 833 feet). Some marina facilities may lose functionality or become unsafe at the 833 foot elevation level.

  • Volunteers needed for National Trails Day

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Sweet Home Trails Group are looking for volunteers to improve the conditions of Foster Lake’s North Shore Trail, Saturday, June 3, 2017. This event supports National Trails Day (http://nationaltrailsday.americanhiking.org/) that celebrates America’s 200,000 miles of trails.
  • President's Fiscal 2018 Budget for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Civil Works Program released

    The President’s Budget for fiscal year 2018 (FY 2018) includes $5.002 billion in gross discretionary funding for the Civil Works program of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps). "The fiscal 2018 Civil Works budget for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reflects the administration's priorities to support and improve the nation's economy and infrastructure, and to protect the American people," said Mr. Doug Lamont, senior official performing the duties of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works. "This Budget supports the core mission areas of coastal and inland navigation, reducing flood risks from riverine flooding and along our coasts, and restoring aquatic ecosystems.”
  • Corps seeks public comment on draft Willamette Falls Locks Integrated Disposition Study and Environmental Assessment

    The Corps is seeking public comment on its draft proposal to recommend Congressional de-authorization and disposal of the Willamette Falls Locks after performing minor modification for seismic retrofits and to install perimeter fencing and debris and boat barriers. Comments are open through July 12.
