    Corps talks upcoming projects with potential contractors

    Business representatives interested in working with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are invited to the upcoming fiscal year 17 Industry Day. Those who attend will learn about future Corps projects and how to compete for them. The event is Nov. 2 at the 911 Federal Building at 911 N.E. 11th Ave., Portland, Oregon. Seating is limited and registration is required.

    Prescribed burning begins near Dorena Reservoir

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partners are planning controlled ecological burns near Dorena Reservoir this fall. The burns will take place on 28 acres of land north of Bake Stewart Park, east of the Row River and west of Row River Road.

    ‘On-request’ recreational lockage service begins Sept. 16 for boaters on Snake, Columbia rivers

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers begins its winter recreational vessel lock schedule Sept. 16. Recreational boaters may lock past dams on the lower Snake and Columbia rivers almost any time during daylight hours.

    Plant a tree, camp for free

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites volunteers to roll up their sleeves and devote Sept. 24 to planting trees and shrubs and improving parks at Cottage Grove Reservoir. The event supports National Public Lands Day--the nation’s largest annual, single-day volunteer restoration effort for America’s public lands.

    John Day Dam’s Roosevelt Park camping and boat ramp restricted during Yakama Indian Nation Pow-Wow July 15-17

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily prohibit public camping and alcohol use at Roosevelt Park between July 15 and July 17 during the Roosevelt Pow-Wow. Officials stress that day-use areas will be congested during the annual Native American event.

    Army Corps of Engineers seeks public comments on on proposal to renew and revise nationwide permits

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today it is seeking comments on its proposal to renew and revise 50 nationwide permits for work in wetlands and other waters that are regulated by Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899. In addition, USACE is proposing to issue two new nationwide permits that pertain to authorizing the removal of low-head dams and the construction and maintenance of living shorelines.
