  • USACE awards $35.9M contract for Mount St. Helens sediment dam improvement

    In an effort to manage flood risk for downstream communities, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will raise the dam that captures some of the sediment that continues to flow from Mount St. Helen after its 1980 eruption. USACE awarded a $35.9 million contract to Anvil Builders, Inc., to raise the 184-foot-tall Mount St. Helens Sediment Retention Structure (SRS) by 10 feet.
  • South Jetty rehab close parts of Fort Stevens State Park

    South Jetty rehabilitation will temporarily close the observation tower at Lot “C” at Fort Stevens State Park beginning April 19. Lot “C” and the bathrooms remain open for public access but the tower will be closed until further notice. Construction progress will determine the reopening date and a separate announcement will follow.
  • Spillway gate rehab closes Detroit Dam road

    A second season of rehabilitation of the Detroit Dam spillway gates begins Nov. 2, which will close the road on top of the dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers anticipates the work window and road closure to last through February 28, 2021.
  • Road and areas at Cape Disappointment State Park will remain closed to the public due to North Jetty construction activity

    Public access to the North Jetty, North Jetty Road and nearby parking lots at Cape Disappointment State Park will remain closed through the winter, until Nov. 19, 2019.
  • The Dalles Dam tours postponed during construction; Visitor center remains open

    Public tours at The Dalles Lock and Dam are postponed until further notice due to construction activities at the dam. The Dalles Dam Visitor Center is not impacted by the construction and remains open under normal operating hours.
  • Fall Creek Dam getting new fish facility

    PORTLAND, Ore. – Construction crews are rebuilding Fall Creek Dam’s Adult Fish Collection Facility southeast of Eugene, Oregon. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is doing this to meet requirements of the 2008 Willamette Project biological opinions to support the safe collection and transport of wild spring Chinook and winter steelhead upstream of the dam.
  • Safety alert: Corps construction near The Dalles Dam North Shore boat launch may cause delays

    Access to the North Shore boat launch may be delayed due to construction until the estimated completion in March 2017.
  • Effectively compete for upcoming Corps projects

    Businesses interested in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers work have two opportunities to learn about future projects and how to compete for them. The Corps will host two separate Industry Day events: April 26 and 27. Both events will be at the 911 Federal Building at 911 NE 11th Ave., Portland, Oregon. Seating is limited and registration is required.

    Bonneville Lock and Dam’s Navigation Lock Visitor Center will close July 28 due to construction at the navigation lock; it isn't expected to re-open during the 2014 recreation season.
