This project addresses persistent shoaling at the harbor entrance—creating navigation challenges, hull strikes, and restricted access for both commercial fishing and recreational vessels. Goals include mitigating tide-and sediment-related delays; improve safety and reduce vessel groundings; maintain continuous access to fueling and unloading facilities; and decrease long-term dredging frequency and cost.

Project Status & Next Steps:

• Agency Technical Review (ATR) is expected to conclude by July 22
• The draft of the Integrated Feasibility Report / Environmental Assessment is available for review. The district is accepting public comment in writing through August 11 by emailing CENWP-CharlestonMarinaCAP107-IFR-EA@usace.army.mil.
• Next milestone: Final major subordinate review of the Initial Feasibility Report/Environmental Assessment
