This project addresses persistent shoaling at the harbor entrance—creating navigation challenges, hull strikes, and restricted access for both commercial fishing and recreational vessels. Goals include mitigating tide-and sediment-related delays; improve safety and reduce vessel groundings; maintain continuous access to fueling and unloading facilities; and decrease long-term dredging frequency and cost.

Project Status & Next Steps:

Benefits to the Community:
Situated within the Coos Bay Estuary and servicing 165–200 commercial vessels, Charleston Marina is vital to Oregon’s third-largest fishing port. This project ensures safer, more efficient marina operations, supporting local economies and recreational access.
