Corps closes West Avery Park

Published Oct. 2, 2015
PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has closed the west portion of Avery Park, located on the north shore of the Columbia River at Milepost 93 along Washington State Route 14 near Wishram, Washington. The east portion of the park remains open.

A recent wildfire burned shoreline vegetation along the shoulder of the road, resulting in erosion and the potential for unsafe driving conditions.

The Corps does not yet know when the road will be reopened. Questions or concerns can be directed to The Dalles Lock and Dam park ranger office at 541-506-7857.

Other recreation options near The Dalles Lock and Dam are available at http://go.usa.gov/3zhFT.
