Public comment period extended, additional public info session added for Detroit Reservoir deep drawdowns, potential end to Willamette Valley hydropower
Detroit Reservoir is shown at an elevation of 1451 feet on Dec. 6, 2025. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which owns and operates the dam, lowers the reservoir levels in winter to provide extra space to capture rain, reducing flood risk. USACE is planning to draw the reservoir down to an elevation of 1395 feet to comply with a National Marine Fisheries Biological Opinion, which requires a deeper reservoir drawdown at Detroit Reservoir. The goal of the reservoir drawdown is to help endangered fish species pass out of the reservoir and downriver to continue their lifecycle. U.S. Army photo by Kerry Solan
