Col. Brendan John “Mac” McEvoy assumed duties as the commander and district engineer of the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), on July 24, 2026.
McEvoy, a Port Washington, New York native, is a 2003 graduate of Providence College in Rhode Island. He holds a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and a master’s degree in National Security from the National War College.
Prior to his arrival at Portland District, he served as the Mobility Branch Chief in G-8 Force Development at Headquarters, Department of the Army.
McEvoy’s previous command assignments include Regimental Engineer Squadron Commander, 3d Cavalry Regiment, Fort Hood, Texas; and A Company Commander, 4th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
McEvoy’s key staff assignments include serving as the III Armored Corps Engineer, Fort Hood, Texas; Engineer Director for Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve; Mission Assurance Branch Chief, DCS G-3/5/7, Headquarters, Department of the Army; 555th Engineer Brigade Operations Officer, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington; 23d Engineer Battalion Operations Officer, Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Washington; Executive Officer to the Deputy Commanding General, US Army Central Command; 2d Engineer Brigade S-3 Plans Officer, Bagram, Afghanistan; and Chief of Operations and Brigade Engineer, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division.
He deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve. McEvoy’s military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Afghanistan and Iraq Campaign Medals, the Combat Action Badge, and the Army Parachutist Badge.
McEvoy is married to Shireen Lackey. They have cats.
