The enduring legacy of the Coos Bay North Jetty

An aerial view from August 2025 showcases the newly reinforced head of the North Jetty at the entrance to Coos Bay. Following a three-year project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the reconstruction utilized over 193,000 tons of armor stone to stabilize the structure. The project addressed decades of erosion that had caused the jetty to lose more than 1,000 feet in length, restoring critical safety for commercial and recreational vessels navigating Oregon's largest deep-draft coastal harbor.
