Coos Bay provided the Coos people with abundant food and building supplies., as represented in this Illustration first published in 1855 by Harper's Monthly. The Coos people, comprising the Hanis and Miluk speakers, are the indigenous inhabitants of the South-Central Oregon coast, specifically around Coos Bay and the Coquille River.
