    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Portland District (Corps) is asking for public feedback now through Jan. 19 on its proposed 30-year plan for the operation and maintenance of its system of 13 dams and reservoirs across the Willamette River Basin.

  • Federal agencies release final Columbia River System Operations environmental impact statement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Bureau of Reclamation and Bonneville Power Administration today released the Columbia River System Operations Final Environmental Impact Statement. The issuance of the final EIS is a substantial step toward accomplishment of a priority item of the Presidential Memorandum on Promoting the Reliable Supply and Delivery of Water in the West issued in October 2018.

  • Corps releases report addressing public comments for Detroit Dam fish passage project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed its analysis of the public’s comments regarding the Corps’ proposed plan to provide downstream fish passage, including temperature control, at Detroit Dam and Lake. This report describes the public scoping process, provides analysis on comments collected, and concludes with a summary on how these comments will be incorporated into the project’s Environmental Impact Statement analysis. Public scoping is the process by which federal agencies solicit public input on the scope of issues and alternatives the agency should address in an EIS as a part of the National Environmental Policy Act.

  • Environmental Scoping Opens Through Oct. 3, 2017 for Port of Coos Bay’s Proposed Channel Modification

    PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is opening a public scoping phase in the preparation of a comprehensive environmental impact statement to evaluate the effects of the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay’s proposed modifications to the Federal Navigation Channel.

    We are hosting two webinars and a second open house in Astoria, Ore., discussing the draft Environmental Impact Statement and the preferred alternative to reduce predation on juvenile salmon and steelhead listed under the Endangered Species Act by a large population of double-crested cormorants in the Columbia River estuary.
