Species diversity

Species diversity formulaThe number of species occupying an area is a function (f) of several factors besides area. These factors include disturbance. A moderate level of disturbance can raise diversity.

The number of habitat types increases diversity. The proximity to sources of species affects diversity. Diversity tends to increase with age of an area following massive disturbance.
