Landscape allometry of tidal sloughs

Graph showing relationship of slough area to slough lengthEmpirical models by Hood (2002a, 2002b) describe the relationship between various aspects of the natural morphology of tidal sloughs.

Knowing the natural allometry is useful in designing tidal channels for restoration, and for understanding the factors controlling natural channel development.
