      <description>The acronym-laden and typically dry use of social media by many federal agencies is … understandable, but there are exceptions. One is Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Facebook Page. It’s so different, in fact, multiple media outlets have written stories about its quirky nature.&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;img src='https://media.defense.gov/2022/Jan/26/2002927963/115/75/0/220124-A-KH311-0001.JPG' alt='Chris Gaylord, public affair specialist, poses with the Portland District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers&amp;#39; Facebook page. <title>Summer brings hot temps, water sports and potential danger</title>
      <link>https://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Media/News-Releases/Article/2599755/summer-brings-hot-temps-water-sports-and-potential-danger/</link>
      <description>Last year, 27 Oregonians died in recreational boating-related incidents – the most in three decades. Incidents overall spiked in 2020. Of 96 fatal and non-fatal occurrences – a 20-year high – three happened at Portland District reservoirs.

The Oregon State Marine Board tracks these and officials attribute the increase – in part – to the pandemic.
