Corps seeks comments on Cascade Natural Gas funding proposal

Published Feb. 23, 2016

PORTLAND, ORE. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking public comment on its plan to accept funds from Cascade Natural Gas to expedite processing of CNG’s proposal to modify a federally constructed levee.

The Corps will review the proposal to relocate the pipeline currently hanging from the Grade Street Bridge across the Coweeman River in Kelso, Washington.  A new 2-inch pipeline would be installed beneath the river and a levee on the north bank using horizontal direction drilling. This review will evaluate whether any Corps projects may be affected by the proposed relocation.

The Corps may accept and expend these funds pursuant to Section 214 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2014. In doing so, the Corps must ensure that the use of such funds will not impact impartial decision making with respect to permits, either substantively or procedurally.

A public notice describing this action is available for public review and comment on the Corps’ Portland District website at www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Media/Announcements.aspx.

For questions regarding the public notice or to request a copy, call Marci Johnson at 503-808-4765 or e-mail Marci.E.Johnson@usace.army.mil. Comments also can be submitted by mailing:
