PORTLAND, ORE. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a web-based public meeting Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed temporary closure of Philippi Park, located near John Day Dam.

Increased costs and budget cuts have made the status of the park uncertain and the Corps is asking members of the public for ideas that could keep the park open.  Albert Philippi Park is located on the John Day River about 3 miles southeast of John Day Lock and Dam.

This is the first online public meeting the Portland District has scheduled.  The meeting will begin with an introduction, followed by a short video describing the park and the proposed temporary closure.  Afterward members of the John Day and Portland District Natural Resources staff will be available to answer questions participants may have.

The web-based meeting will take place Jan. 31 and will begin promptly at 5:30 p.m. A phone and computer with a web browser connection is necessary to participate.

To participate, first dial into the conference call by dialing: (877) 322-9654. When prompted, enter the access code: 787008. You may be asked to state your name, afterward you will be connected to the audio portion of the meeting.

As soon as you are connected to the conference call, use your computer’s web browser and go to:  https://www.webmeeting.att.com.  Please note your web browser must be Microsoft® IE6, IE7, IE8, Safari 5 or Firefox 9 or 10 to participate in ATT Web Meeting.

When you reach the ATT Web Meeting page, you will be asked to enter the following information in order to log in:
Meeting number: (877) 322-9654
Code: 787008

You will be asked for your name and email address. Once all the fields are complete, select ‘submit’ and wait for the connection to be established. The host will let participants know what they should be seeing on the computer screen to confirm the connection has been made.

Viewers may watch the introductory video and read Philippi Park questions and answers on the Portland District web page after the web meeting is concluded at http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Locations/ ColumbiaRiver/JohnDay.aspx. The link and the Q&As will be available on Feb. 1, 2013.
