PORTLAND, Ore. – Antiterrorism and Operational Security, also known as OPSEC, will lead off this year’s U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Industry Day event. The session will provide potential contractors an overview of current antiterrorism and OPSEC contract clauses, training and on-site requirements.

“Heightened security awareness is critical for businesses constructing and repairing the nation’s infrastructure,” said Kathryn Kirkpatrick, Portland District’s chief of security. “This information will support contractors’ efforts to keep employees safe while providing an additional layer of security for Corps-built projects.”

The Corps’ industry day event is Nov. 1, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Camp Withycombe in Clackamas, Oregon.  Seating is limited and registration is required. See details below.

“These industry day events have proven successful for the Corps as we seek proposals for a wide variety of projects and services,” said Tracy Wickham, Portland District’s chief of contracting. “We look for businesses that provide everything from supplies and materials to construction services.”

In addition to discussing security requirements, government contracting experts will share an overview of upcoming opportunities for prime contractors and subcontractors, and provide information about doing business with the Corps and how to improve project proposals.

The event’s agenda topics include:

  • Source selection tips
  • Construction contract administration
  • Small business participation plans
  • Small business registration and proposal assistance
  • Other procurement avenues such as General Services Administration and Defense Logistics Agency

The Portland District has one of the Corps' most comprehensive and diversified civil works programs in the Nation. It awards contracts totaling $150 million to $180 million annually for construction projects, Architect-Engineering services, and supplies and services. Business owners who want to compete for government contracts have an ally in the Corps, whose specialists will help them learn to navigate the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
