    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a second public meeting Feb. 26 at the Rufus Community Center beginning at 6:30 p.m., to discuss the proposed temporary closure of Philippi Park, located near John Day Dam.

    Water levels upstream of the John Day Dam may remain high during November and December to provide additional storage for power generation and river operations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced. Actual reservoir elevations in November and December could vary between 262.0 feet and 266.5 feet, but will likely stay above 264 feet most of the time.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is preparing the John Day campgrounds and day-use areas for winter. Camping will be available with limited services at LePage and Plymouth campgrounds, while some day-use areas and boat ramps remain open throughout the winter months.
