Linn County Parks takes over Foster marina, RV park

Published May 5, 2014

PORTLAND, Ore. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pleased to announce that Linn County Parks and Recreation Department assumed management of the Edgewater RV Resort and Marina at Foster Reservoir effective May 2.

The resort is a popular full service 49-space RV park and 40-slip marina at 1400 60th Ave. in Sweet Home, Ore., on the southwest shore of the reservoir. It is operated under lease from the Corps. The resort also maintains two nearby Corps day-use recreation facilities at Foster Bench and Shea Point.

“Linn County Parks is an exceptional partner in providing recreation opportunities on Corps land in the South Santiam Basin,” said Tami Schroeder, park manager for the Corps’ Willamette Valley Project, which operates Foster Dam and Reservoir. “They very effectively manage six recreation areas here already, including two campgrounds and several heavily-used boat ramps. Adding Edgewater RV Resort and Marina to their portfolio just makes sense.”

“Edgewater Resort and Marina is a valuable recreation asset to Linn County. We are pleased to be able to keep it in operation, and hope to be able to expand the marina in the future,” said Brian Carroll, director of the Linn County Parks and Recreation Department.

Foster Dam and Reservoir is one of 13 dam and reservoir projects operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Willamette Basin.  Each dam contributes to a water resource plan designed to provide flood damage reduction, power generation, irrigation, water quality improvement, fish and wildlife habitat, recreation and navigation on the Willamette River and many of its tributaries.  For more information, visit http://www.nwp.usace.army.mil/Locations/WillametteValley.aspx.
